FLORENCE - Trey Simpson hit a bases-loaded triple in the bottom of the first and pitcher Clay Navarette was outstanding after an early hiccup to lead the Florence Buffaloes in an 11-1 rout of Lexington in six innings in their season finale Monday.

Lexington (8-6 27-2A) led 1-0 after taking advantage of a game-opening double and error. But that was the last Eagle baserunner to advance past first base as Navarette scattered four hits and finished off Lexington in 58 pitches. He did not walk anyone.

After Florence's first two batters struck out, the Buffaloes loaded the bases on back-to-back walks and a single, setting the stage for Simpson.

Florence (13-9, 6-8) added three more runs in the second and scored in every inning but the fifth. With another run in the sixth, the game ended on the 10-run mercy rule.

Ben Futrell and Peyton Person had two hits for the Buffs, who finished tied for fourth place in the district. Evilio Varela had an RBI triple and sacrifice fly.
