BELTON — After a four-game road trip that included only one victory, the Mary Hardin-Baylor Crusaders return home to host six of their final eight regular-season games in a stretch that will determine their conference tournament fate.

UMHB (9-8, 7-7 American Southwest) sits in a sixth-place tie in the ASC standings heading into tonight’s 7:30 matchup with Louisiana College (9-6, 9-4) at Mayborn Campus Center.

The top eight teams qualify for the league tournament.

After totaling a 22-4 record on the road the last two seasons — with one of the losses coming in last year’s NCAA Division III national championship game in Atlanta — the Crusaders are 5-6 away from home this season but have a chance to solidify their tournament hopes at home in the closing stretch.

After hosting LC, a 60-53 winner at home in the teams’ first matchup in mid-December, UMHB continues a four-game homestand with games against Mississippi College (7-9, 5-8), LeTourneau (3-13, 2-11) and East Texas Baptist (6-10, 4-9) — all of whom lost to the Crusaders in the first go-round.

UMHB wraps up the regular season with road games against Ozarks (Ark.) and Texas-Tyler and home matchups with Hardin-Simmons and league-leading Texas-Dallas — the last three of which knocked off the Crusaders earlier this month.

On the women’s side, UMHB (10-7, 10-4) is tied for fourth in the ASC standings after winning eight of its last nine games.

The Lady Crusaders will be looking for redemption this evening against Louisiana College (11-5, 9-4), which won the first meeting 90-84 in overtime.

UMHB is 6-2 this season against its next eight opponents as it tries to post its first winning record since going 16-10 in 2010-11.
