AUSTIN — Mary Hardin-Baylor defeated Texas-Tyler on the second playoff hole Tuesday at Avery Ranch Gold Club to claim the American Southwest Conference tournament championship for the 11th time.
The Lady Crusaders (316-320), who held a six-shot lead after Monday’s first round, and Texas-Tyler (322-314) were tied at 636 following Tuesday’s second round, forcing the extra holes.
The victory secured an automatic bid to the NCAA Division III national championships May 8-11 at Mission Inn Resort in Howey-In-The-Hills, Fla.
UMHB’s McKenna Ralston added to the team’s haul, winning the individual title by two strokes with a two-day 150 (76-74).
Cassidy Rawls went 80-80—160 to tie for seventh, Olivia Robinson tied for 11th with 81-82—163, Annie Hasselbach went 84-84—168 for a 16th-place tie and Emily Ming tied for 20th at 173 (79-94) for the Lady Crusaders.
Ralston, who was named the conference’s tri-golfer of the year, Rawls and Robinson were voted all-conference.
