COPPERAS COVE The Copperas Cove Bulldawgs finished their third undefeated season in six years on Friday night as they closed out the regular season with a 34-7 victory over visiting Belton.

They now turn their attention to District 14-5A third-place finisher Klein Forest for a bi-district playoff game at Bobcat Stadium in San Marcos.

It marks the second time in as many years that the Bulldawgs are opening the playoffs at Texas State University. Last year, Cove defeated Klein Collins 56-24, but head coach Jack Welch insisted that the team did not agree to the location based on the familiarity aspect.

"We didn't pick Bobcat Stadium because we were familiar with it, we have only played one game here," he said. "Both teams liked the surface (astroplay) rather than settling to play on a grass field."

Both teams will need to have their track shoes on for this affair as both boast 1,000-yard rushers in Cove's Donald Buckram and Klein Forest's Ty Robinson.

The two teams will face off at 7:30 p.m. Saturday.
