The Ellison girls track team traveled to Converse for the Judson Invitational on Saturday. The Lady Eagles, with 117 points, placed second to Judson, which finished with 216.

Hays was third with 46 points.

"Judson is an awesome team. They were loaded in just about every event," Ellison coach Bren Jones said. "It was a challenge to compete with them. So, I just told the girls to go out and compete the best that they could, and I think they did that."

Multiple placers for Ellison included:

n Samantha Hamilton, who took third in the 100-meter hurdles with a personal record time of 14.73. She also took second in the triple jump at 37 feet, 3 inches, and fourth in the long jump at 17-5.

n Demetria Pace, who took first in the 3,200 with a personal-record time of 12:37.05. She also set a personal record in the 1,600, finishing second at 5:48.72.

n Alesha Walker, who took third in the long jump at 17-11 and fourth in the 200 meters at 25.36.

Other individual placers included Jasmine Clarke, who finished second in the 800 at 2:22.24, and Brittany Clarke, who took second in the long jump with a personal record of 18-2.

In the relays, Hamilton and Walker teamed with Sharise Logwood and Faybiana Gobert to take second in the 400 at 47.50.

Walker, Gobert, Logwood and Brittany Clarke took second in the 800 at 1:41.93; Jasimine Clarke, Brittany Clarke, Darcel Smith and Terika Motley won the 1,600 at 3:57.72.

"We got some PRs and our relays are continuing to improve," Jones said. "I was really proud of Pace scoring points in the distance events.

"Our two freshman, Brittany Clarke and Sharise Logwood are really contributing a great deal."

Ellison will next see action in the Skyline Invitational in Dallas on Saturday.
