From left, Wyatt, Lana and Shane Pavey, each display their first fish ever caught. The kids landed 80 fish during a free Soldiers’ Kids Involved in Fishing Fun program fishing trip available to all military kids ages 5 and older anytime a parent is away due to short-term or long-term duty requirements.

Just after the Fourth of July weekend, former Fort Hood resident Denise Igo posted on her “Fort Hood Area Events” Facebook page a brief description of the Soldiers’ Kids Involved in Fishing Fun (SKIFF) program letting the community know that a few openings for free fishing trips still existed prior to the start of the 2019-20 school year.

That Facebook page, which has been ‘liked’ by over 50,000 people, is a family-friendly page. According to Igo, “The primary purpose of this page is to share events, weather, information, news and resources for the Fort Hood and surrounding communities.”
