Erwin Woodard and Levi Green, both of Killeen, took first place in the Tuesday Night Tournament at Stillhouse Hollow Reservoir.
The duo boated three fish for a total of 9.17 pounds. They also earned “Big Bass” honors with a 4.09-pounder.
Second place went to John Dulaney and Brian Young with 8.26 pounds. Third place went to John Guerra and Fred Cosper with 5.82 pounds.
This was the first 2015 TNT win for Woodward and Green. The duo have finished both second and third numerous times this season in the TNT, which is sponsored each week by Tightlines Premium Fishing Tackle.
“Both of us couldn’t fish on Tuesday because of the wind,” Green said. “So, since it was my boat, I stayed on the motor and he caught fish. A half-hour before we were ready to go I was able to catch one so we could cull up.
“We had to do a lot of searching. You have to change up bait to find out what’s out there.”
Woodard-Green had little luck in the first hour.
“The area we went to at first was pretty flat,” Green said. “So we started moving around. By 7 p.m., we moved to a second spot and that wasn’t very good then we moved to a third spot around 7:15 p.m. and we felt that was promising and we waited there. We knew of a few other good spots but we decided to stay there and see how it worked out. As it turned out, it worked out pretty good.”
Per tradition, next Tuesday, the duo will be the first boat onto the lake at the 6 p.m. start.
“We’ll run the same gauntlet next week,” Green said. “Guys see you in a certain area and guys may try and get close to your spot. We have two other spots we know well.
“We know of one really good spot — and we’re just waiting for the right moment to use it.”
