Football: Cedar Park blows out Eagles, 52-0

CEDAR PARK - Ellison was unable to mount any scoring while also failing to slow down the opponents offense, falling to Cedar Park 52-0 on Friday.

The Eagles (0-2) only managed 120 total yards of offense, the bulk of which came on the legs of Isiah Cowan (18-75) and Daryus Scott (3-51). Ellison, which turned the ball over five times last week, also had a pair of interceptions.

Cedar Park (1-1) ran for a combined 275 yards on 38 carries and Brian Hogan threw three touchdown passes, completing 6 of 8 attempts for 152 yards.

Gatesville 31, Mexia 0 - At Mexia, Gatesville's defense shut out the Blackcats and the Hornets' rushing attack ran for 314 yards.

The Hornets recovered four of five forced fumbles and allowed 92 total yards, and quarterback Cole Edmiston led a multitude of Hornets (1-1) offensively with 150 total yards and two touchdowns.

Florence 42, Holland 24 - At Florence, the Buffaloes used three touchdowns in the third quarter to put the game out of reach.

Kaleb Hardy led Florence (2-0) with 242 total yards and four touchdowns. Early in the third quarter and facing a deficit, Hardy scampered 58 yards for a touchdown that gave the Buffaloes a lead they would not relinquish.

Troy Afano carried the ball seven times for 64 yards.

Rockdale 51, Salado 42 - At Salado, the Tigers scored the last 17 points as they rallied to defeat Salado. Ryan Simmons passed for 175 yards and three touchdowns and ran for another 120 and two touchdowns in the loss.

Salado (1-1) went up 42-34 in the fourth, but could not hold on to the lead, giving up a 3-yard run to Markus Hayes and a Dillon Goodman 17-yard touchdown pass from Ethan Brinkley.

Lampasas 28, Austin Travis 0 - At Austin, Secody Howard rushed 28 times for 192 yards, including an 89-yarder in the fourth quarter, as the Badgers shut down the Rebels.

Marcus Kehoe added a 2-yard touchdown reception from Brandon Scott in the second quarter and Justin Maldonado had an 8-yard run for a score.
