Friday's Soccer: Young scores 4 in Belton's win over Shoemaker

Hadley Young is trying to score 50 goals this season after setting the single-season record at Belton last year.

She made a huge dent in that goal, scoring four times in a 9-0 win over Shoemaker on Friday at Belton's Wilson Kerzee Field.

Also scoring for the Lady Tigers (9-3-1, 3-0 12-5A) were Ashley Winkler, Bekah Rush, Jacey Love, Madi Goldston and Jessie Hagen.

Shoemaker fell to 1-5-3 overall and 0-3 in district with the loss.

Copperas Cove 3, Ellison 1 - At Ellison, the Lady Dawgs got second-half goals from Cheyenne Huereque and Jessica Vick as they defeated the Lady Eagles.

Ellison's Stephanie Morales scored off an assist from Brooke Guerrero as Ellison (4-6-3, 0-2-1 12-5A) tied the game at 1-1 in the 34th minute.

Robinson 1, Killeen 0 - At Killeen, the Lady Rockets scored with 12 minutes remaining to pick up their first district win.

Nina Duran had 10 saves for Killeen (6-7-1, 1-1 34-5A).

Lampasas 5, Salado 0 - At Salado, Lampasas kept its hot streak going, defeating the Lady Eagles to improve to 11-3-1 overall and 3-0 in district play.

Megan Mason scored two goals and Caitlyn Shaughnessy, Analise Watson and Dre Dekort each scored one, beginning with Dekort's game-opener four minutes in.

Temple 6, Harker Heights 0 - At Temple, the Tem-Cats outshot the Lady Knights 20-0 and scored three goals in each half Friday.

Heights dropped to 5-5-1 and 1-2 in District 12-5A.

BOYS

Harker Heights 5, Temple 1 - At Harker Heights, Carlos Cacho scored twice and Johnee Jasso had three assists as the Knights improved to 2-1 in District 12-5A.

Outshooting the Wildcats 16-11, Heights (6-6, 2-1) also had goals from Mike McNamara, Adrian Morris and Jonathan Vargas while Angel Pulido and Jordan Foster added the other assists.

Knights goalie Nick Merutka had six saves.

Copperas Cove 1, Ellison 0 - At Ellison, the Dawgs' Anthony Velarde scored the lone goal halfway through the first half to send the host Eagles to 0-3 in District 12-5A.

Cove improved to 2-5 overall and 1-2 in district with the win while Ellison dropped to 3-6-3, 0-3.

Salado 5, Lampasas 0 - At Salado, Dennie Barker had a hat trick as the Eagles defeated Lampasas to remain undefeated in District 34-4A.

Tristan Bragg and Edson Rios also added goals for Salado (6-7, 2-0).

Lampasas fell to 1-8-1 overall and 0-2 with the loss.

Killeen 5, Robinson 1 - At Killeen, Marvin Henderson and Daniel Carrizales each scored twice and the Roos got their first District 34-4A win of the season.

Dominic Dunga, who scored the Roos' only goal in their district-opening loss on Tuesday, also scored for Killeen (3-10-2, 1-1).

Belton 6, Shoemaker 0 - At Shoemaker, Luke Villamaria and Cameron Cooper both scored two goals and had an assist and Shoemaker (5-7-1, 0-3 12-5A) spotted the Tigers (9-3, 3-0) a penalty kick by Angel Hernandez.

Alvaro Martinez rounded out the scoring for Belton.

Lorena 4, Gatesville 2 - At Gatesville, Sebastian Corrales scored on a direct kick and a penalty kick to give the Hornets a 2-0 lead at halftime, but the Leopards exploded for all four of their goals in the second to hand Gatesville (5-4-1, 1-1 34-4A) its first district loss of the season.
