Boys soccer team drops 13-5A opener
District play began Friday for the Harker Heights boys soccer team with a 1-0 home loss to A&M Consolidated.
"It was very close," said Heights coach Jeremy Key. "Most of the game was played probably in the middle two-thirds of the field. It was a back-and-forth battle. They had probably better and a lot more scoring opportunities than we did."
Consolidated scored the game's only goal late in the first half.
Heights sophomore defender David Cremin and junior midfielder Chris Stroud were standouts in Friday's match.
The Knights (3-5-1) continued a rough stretch through 13-5A on Tuesday at vastly improved Copperas Cove, a 2-0 winner Friday in Temple. The Knights then host Belton on Friday and play at Temple on Tuesday.
