Kangaroo head coach Sam Jones saw what he expected for the first fall practice of the new football season.

Killeen, like most area schools, chose to hold practices in the spring rather than the weeks before school.

"The players retained a lot from what they learned in the spring," Jones said. "They were able to recall the plays and the terminology. We changed a few formations and they picked it up real quick."

Jones did say the team needed more conditioning before the start of the season, but "the effort," he said, "was there."
