BELTON – With only two contestants in bareback, all Bubba Hudson had to do was hang on. He did, and went home with the first-go prize money Saturday night in the Belton 4th of July Rodeo. His ride on "Little Al" earned him 68 points.

In tie-down roping, Jody Reat had the fastest time of the night with a 10.3. It put him in fourth overall, after three other ropers had faster times in Saturday morning's slack. Glen Breaux had the fastest time with an 8.4. Following quickly after that were Sterling Smith and Casey Butaud with a 9.3 and 9.9, respectively.

Jake Crawley of Stephenville rode "Line Drive" for 82 points in the saddle bronc competition. Following that, Dean Wadswork of Ozona placed second with a 76-point ride on "Cool Whip." Shad Linn rode earned 74 points and Billy Herbert had a 68.

In steer wrestling, Mike Dickey of Bryan had the fastest time of the night with a 4.9. It put him behind T.C. Christman, who had a slack time of 3.8. Chet Woodall had a 4.6 (slack).

James Lockhart and Shiloh Seale took the top place in team roping, earning a time of 5.2 (slack). The teams of Ryan Dunlap and Billy Dean Adamson, along with Charlie Wheeler and Trey Norris III, posted times of 6.2.

Whitney Gibson of Kilgore took first with a time of 15.49 seconds in barrel racing. In second, Cressent Nickes posted a 15.69 with Terra Bynum of Lubbock turning the barrels in 15.72.

David Baily's bulls put on a great show Saturday. The livestock were so tough that there were no points awarded in bull riding.

The rodeo continues at the Bell County Expo Center tonight. The kids Stick Horse Grand Entry will begin at 7:30 with competition events starting at 7:45.
