Twenty-one softball teams from across the state converge on Lion's Club Park this weekend for the Texas Amateur Softball Association (ASA) Girls 14 and under 'A' fast pitch regional championships.

The double-elimination tournament begins Saturday morning at 8 and concludes Sunday evening with the championship game at 6. The first- and second-place teams automatically qualify for the ASA/USA national tournament August 1-8 in Moline, Ill. The tournament is the first of four regional, state and national tournaments hosted by the Killeen Parks and Recreation department this summer.

In mid-July, KPR hosts the ASA Men's 'C' slow pitch state championship tournament and the Texas Teen Age baseball freshman open base state tournament at the end of July. In August, Killeen hosts the 14 and under 'B' softball southern national tournament.

This weekend's regional tournament features 40 games, including 30 on Saturday at Lion's Club Park's four fields.
