ELM MOTT — A trio of local stock car drivers outdrove and outran large competing fields to drive down Victory Lane at Heart O’ Texas Speedway on Friday night.
After starting eighth in the 17-car IMCA Stock Car feature, Harker Heights racer Jason Batt worked his way to the lead midway through the 20-lap event and held on to post the win.
Copperas Cove driver P.J. Egbert lined up third in a 23-car field for the IMCA Modified main event. As the green flag waved, Egbert shot around the leaders and was in control before a full lap was in the books. Egbert staved off a late challenge from Academy’s Keith White, who started 13th, and dashed under the checkered flag for his first 2015 win at HOT.
In the 22-car IMCA Southern SportMod feature race, Gatesville’s Sid Kiphen started 10th and moved forward as the 20 laps counted down, then took the lead with less than 10 to go and held off all comers for the win.
