ELM MOTT — The former IMCA Modified national champion knew he had his hands full.
Friday night’s modified feature race at Heart O’Texas Speedway started with a full field of 24 cars and by lap eight, Keith White, of Academy, was in a ferocious battle with older brother Paul White and Killeen’s J.P. Dowell.
Racing side by side with big brother Paul, while Dowell was nipping at their rear bumpers and with Harker Heights driver Jason Batt also in the mix, the first of three caution flags waved, tightening up the field.
Using a mix of guile and raw speed on the restarts, the younger White was able to hold off his challengers and salt away a trip to Victory Lane.
“When you’re racing big brother, you know you’ve got to get after it,” Keith White said in a post-race interview. “I learned everything I know from my brother and it feels good.”
Dowell finished second, with Paul White coming in third.
