Reggie Harris gave the Roos' standout offensive line all-state recognition already.
Derriel Collins gave the defense its due Thursday.
The Roos' senior defensive end was a first-team selection on the 61st Annual Collin Street Bakery/Texas Sports Writers Association's 4A all-state list released Thursday.
Harris and the Roos' offensive line wasn't forgotten by the sports writers either, though.
Harris, who was a first-team selection on the Associated Press Sports Editor's all-state list in mid-December, was a TSWA honorable mention. Senior center Chase Anderson was a third-team selection after receiving honorable mention by the APSEs.
Aledo running back Johnathan Gray and Denton Ryan defensive lineman Mario Edwards were the offensive and defensive players of the year.
Collins was a second-team APSE
all-state selection but was right there on the TSWA first team along with Edwards, Kilgore's Chris Paige, Brenham's Malcolm Brown and Manvel's Glynn Cheeks.
Collins, a 6-foot, 220-pound senior, led the team with 26 tackles for a loss, 12 sacks and 22 pressures. His 84 total tackles were tied for second-best on District 8-4A's best defense.
Harris, the Roos' first all-state first-teamer since Rhontae Scales in 2008, registered 40 pancake blocks, 35 knockdowns and didn't allow a single sack during the regular season.
Gray rushed for 3,886 yards on 347 carries with 65 touchdowns was the offensive player of the year. The 5-foot-10, 198-pounder who has pledged to the University of Texas added 26 catches for 517 yards and five touchdowns. The Parade All-American's 70 TDs are a state record.
Edwards, also a Parade All-American, had 28 tackles for losses, including 10 sacks to be defensive player of the year. The 6-4, 285-pounder will attend Florida State.
