Killeen's Bria McIver (15.54) and Tiare Dugger (16.04) led the way for the Lady Roo's as they finished first and second in the 100-meter hurdles, while fellow Roo's Anthony Watkins (14.54) and John Warren (14.77) took the top two medals in the 110-meter hurdles at the District 8-4A track and field meet in San Angelo. Dugger also took gold in the 300 hurdles with a time of 49.13.2 for her second medal of the day, while teammate Lajada Andrews took third with a 50.61 finish. Watkins (40.05) and Warren (40.34) also placed second and third in the 300 meter hurdles.
Warren continued his strong performance in the long jump, where his distance of 22 -¼ gained him another silver medal, his third of the day. Several other Roo's enjoyed success at the District championships.Brittany Mitchell took gold in the 1,600-meter run with a 5:40.23 finish time. Jalen Wade and Anthony Solomon took first and third in the 800 Run with times of 2:00.39.2 and 2:01.41, respectively.Wade also took first in the 400 dash with a 50.73 time.
Jasimine Freeman took silver in the 800 run with a time of 2:33.28.Laderrica Degrate and Ghiniva Phillips placed second and third in the 100 dash with times of 12.36. and 12.54, respectively.
Miara Elmore ran the 400 dash in 1:01.65 and earned second place. In the 200, Sinoda Emanuel took third with a time of 26.41.
In the triple jump Arius Dupont-Jackson's 35 feet, 1 inch was good enough for second place. Imari Simpson threw the shot put a distance of 36- ¼which netted her third place. In the 1,600, Jamison Hicks earned silver with a time of 4:48.17.
The girl's relay teams finished second in both the 400- and 800-meter race with times of 49.54 and 1:44.98 and the boy's finished the 400-meter relay in 43.62, good enough for third. In the 1,600-meter version, the Roos' ran 3:26.08 and earned second place in the event.
