The Salado girls golf team will not have a representative at the state tournament for the first time since 2004 after finishing third as a team Tuesday at the single-round Region IV-3A tournament at Oso Beach Golf Course.

The Lady Eagles shot a one-day 358 to finish 15 strokes behind runner-up Yoakum (343), who finished 15 strokes behind two-time regional champion Lampasas. Leah Ray led Salado with an 86 to finish tied for eighth place, two strokes behind final medalist Allyson Grabill of Pleasanton. Following Ray were Meredith Ward (87), Kate Goldsmith (92), Sarah Colly (93) and Bethany Cheatham (104).

On the boys side, Eagles medalist Dane Hankamer shot a 77 and failed to advance as well, marking the first time in a decade that Salado didn't have a single state qualifier.
