The Shoemaker Grey Wolves bowling team continued their improvement with a surprising 13-4 victory over the Killeen Kangaroos on Monday at Killeen Bowlerama.
Anthony Garcia led a balanced attack averaging 197 for the Wolves, but had help from Jared Bourguois, James Franklin and Michael Dunem. Shoemaker (2-5) took a 5-2 lead after match play, then took 3 of 4 team games and total pins for the win.
Ashley Arnett and Mitchell Salak led the scoring for the Roos.
The Lady Grey Wolves made (5-2) completed the sweep with a 15-2 win over the Lady Roos. Ashley Shannon, Rechanale Lockett and Kaneysha Black led Shoemaker to a 5-2 lead after match play.
Then the Lady Wolves swept the team games.
Cove, Ellison Split
The Copperas Cove Bulldawgs left no doubt about about which team belonged in second place in the district, as they pounded the Ellison Eagles 16-1 Tuesday at Hallmark Lanes.
In December, the Dawgs scored a come from behind 9-8 victory over Ellison.
This time is was not close.
Tyler Combs (224) led an onslaught of four players with a 200 average to jump out to a 6-1 lead after match play.
Following Combs were Louis Barragan and Cedric Mayberry (206 each) and Zach Stewart (205).
The Dawgs then averaged 216 to sweep the team games.
The Eagles did not go meekly, however. Denzel Amos averaged 213 and Drake Revels 203 while Christian Roach and Quentin Hewitt both averaged over 190.
The Lady Eagles remained in a first place tie with Heights with a 14-3 win over the Lady Dawgs.
Devin Revels led Ellison with a 229 average while Brittany Evans and Cindy Gill averaged over 190.
Brittney Wehmeier and Alexandria Norris both averaged close to 190 to lead Cove.
