Despite a much improved second half the Ellison Lady Eagles soccer team was unable play catch-up and lost to the A&M Consolidated Lady Tigers, 5-0, on Tuesday night at Leo Buckley Stadium.

"We didn't come out ready to play," said Ellison coach Bryan Charlton. "If you give a team, that's quality from top to bottom like A&M is, any opening or letdown they'll take advantage. They capitalized on the opportunities we gave them."

Jessica Stuckey took the first attempt at a goal for the Lady Eagles (5-8-2, 1-6-1 District 13-5A) just after 1:30 had elapsed but the shot was blocked. One minute later, Stephanie Baker scored the first goal for Consol (10-3-4, 6-1-1).

Natalie Pantel scored off of a Lauren Thomas assist with 31:48 on the clock and again five minutes later from a Taylor Pounds assist.

Ellison goalie Becky Kimmel had 19 saves, 10 of those in the first half.

Thomas scored for the Lady Tigers with 21:51 remaining in the half and Casey Wilhelm scored Consol's final goal four minutes later.

The Lady Eagles performed much better in the second half on defense and offense. Ellison was able to keep possession of the ball longer as well as better contain the Lady Tigers' offense.

"At least they looked like they cared about playing (in the second half). The first half they just rolled over and died," Charlton said.

Consolidated played solid soccer in the second half and had several opportunities to score but was deflected by either missed shots or great stops by Kimmel.

"The second half they came out more aggressive. I'm proud of the way they finished the game," Charlton said.
