Once just wasn't enough.

Both Florence senior Ashee Brunson and her teammates Nick Baker and Daniel Taylor needed to go back. They had to go back.

And they did. One year after winning the 2A state doubles title alongside Kasey Button, Brunson made it to the state tennis tournament as a singles player. And one year, after a hard defeat in at the state tournament, Baker and Taylor again advanced to state in boys doubles.

Brunson eventually lost in the semifinals to Sunnyvale's Emily Lobnitz 4-6, 6-3, 6-4. However, in the quarterfinals she destroyed Forsan's Sydney Holdampf, cruising to a 6-1, 6-2 win.

Baker and Taylor overcame their demons from their first visit to the state tournament, but not their opponents, falling 4-6, 7-5, 6-3 to Daniel Balk and Jackson Turner of Krum. However, Baker and Taylor rolled through the Industrial duo of Cole Hirschhauer and Justin Nowlin 6-2, 6-2 to with the Region IV-2A title.

Brunson qualified for the state meet after winning a playback match at regionals, after suffering her first defeat of the season. Up until that point, the senior had not even dropped a set.

For those performances Brunson was named the Killeen Daily Herald's All-Area girls MVP and Baker and Taylor earned the Daily Herald's All-Area boys MVPs.
