BELTON - The Lady Tigers are starting to feel that their home-field grass is cursed.

Belton was blanked 12-0 in five innings by Bryan on Tuesday in the District 12-5A opener for both teams.

"Obviously, you want to get your first district win and coming in off of four wins at the (Waco) Midway tournament, I felt confident in my lineup, confident in our bats," Belton coach Matt Blackburn said.

"But, it was one of those games. … Right now, it feels like our field is cursed for us when we're in front of our home crowd."

Belton (4-6, 0-1 12-5A) had just two hits and trailed the Lady Vikings 3-0 going into its half of the first inning.

The Lady Tigers get the rest of the week away from their 12-5A slate of games, but not a reprieve. Hosting its own tournament, Belton plays 5A No. 12 Round Rock at 3 p.m. and 4A No. 17 Elgin at 5 p.m. in back-to-back games on Thursday.

Gatesville 15, Killeen 2, 5 inn. - At Gatesville, after allowing two runs to Killeen in the top of the first inning, Sarah Ridling settled in and shut out the Lady Roos.

Ellison 13, Copperas Cove 1, 5 inn. - At Killeen, the Lady Eagles pounded out 11 hits and capitalized on seven Cove miscues to run-rule the Lady Dawgs in five innings.

Rogers 16, Florence 0, 3 inn. - At Rogers, the Lady Eagles plated 12 runs in the bottom of the first inning and struck out eight of nine Florence batters in the Lady Buffaloes' District 27-2A opener.

Florence (0-5, 0-1) committed three errors and was no-hit in the three-inning game.

Waco Reicher 6, Salado 0 - At Waco, the Lady Eagles committed eight errors and gave up all six runs in the first two innings for only their second loss of the season.

Lampasas 5, Robinson 3 - At Robinson, Alex Caruthers drove in three runs and the Lady Badgers held on to defeat the Lady Rockets.

Clifton 7, Salado 3 - At Clifton, Salado scored one run in the first, fifth and sixth innings, but couldn't scrape together enough offense to keep up with Clifton, which took a 2-1 lead after the third and never relented.
