The night started with a solemn salute to fallen brothers, but Harker Heights ended it celebrating a win.

The Knights toughed out a 6-3 victory over Shoemaker after a pre-game ceremony was held Tuesday to retire the No. 7 jersey of former player Jack Noyes and the No. 1 for Marc Dudley.

Noyes suffered an injury to his vertebrae sliding into third base in 2003 and died six months later

Dudley, who served as president of the Heights booster club and continued to contribute to the program after his term, died in June 2011 after a battle with brain cancer.

The Dudley family and the Noyes family both threw out the first pitch of the game after a plaque was placed on the outfield wall at the Harker Heights baseball field.

Damien May went 3-for 3 at the plate, scored a run and drove in another to help Harker Heights to the victory.

J.T. Gilmore picked up the win for the Knights, pitching 5 2/3 innings and striking out five.

Harker Heights took a 2-1 lead after a single by Emery Atkisson in the first and scored two runs in the second after a groundout scored Robby Sluss and Stefan Flores singled and scored Miles Munroe.

Raven Sauceda had an RBI double for Shoemaker and scored the game's first run off an RBI groundout by John Gueits.
