You can’t fix everything.
Two-week-old Owen Mockabee has a lot to celebrate. Not only is he the third generation in his family to be born at Carl R. Darnall Army Medical Center, but his birth marks the fifth generation in his family to reside at Fort Hood and call Killeen home. As military families know all too well, having a hometown can be quite rare.
Graduating with highest honors were Laury Sisko, Yeonsang Cho, Caleigh Batchhelder and Katharina Christian.
Funeral services for Sigrid H. Ardoin, 82, of Killeen, will be at 1 p.m. Saturday at Crawford-Bowers Funeral Home Chapel in Killeen. Burial will follow at Killeen City Cemetery.
The Sam Houston Texas Chapter of the Daughters of the Republic of Texas held its monthly meeting on February 9, at the State Capitol in Austin. State Representative Jimmie Don Aycock gave the members a tour of the State Capitol and explained how our State Legislature works. Rep. Aycock pointed out that behind the Speaker's stand is the Flag that flew at the battle of San Jacinto, where many of our ancestor's fought. The highlight of the meeting was inducting two members into the Daughters of the Republic, Mrs. Nancy Gilpin of Salado, and Rep. Aycock's Mother, Mrs. Betty Jean Aycock, of Temple; and a new member into the Children of the Republic, Beau Hill of Jarrell. The Daughter's of the Republic of Texas is a lineal organization dedicated to: Perpetuate the memory and spirit of those who achieved and maintained the independence of Texas; Provide educational programs of the highest caliber in coordination with Texas school districts and the Texas Education Agency, as well as programs for the public; Encourage research into early Texas records, preserve historic documents, and encourage the publication of historic records; and Secure and memorialize historic sites.
Services for Donald S. Mosher will be at noon Thursday at Crawford-Bowers Funeral Home in Copperas Cove.
Private services are planned for retired Maj. George E. Mahalko.

Funeral services for Gerald Ray “Butch” Eldridge, 69, of Killeen, will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Central Christian Church with burial to follow at Killeen City Cemetery.
Funeral services celebrating the life of Bliss Brielle Gravens, 1, of Enid, Okla., will be at 11 a.m. today at The Church of the Resurrection in Wichita, Kan., with the Rev. Jim Weldon and Pastor Jeff Gravens officiating. Burial will follow at Ascension Cemetery.
