The Greater Killeen-Fort Hood USBC Scratch Tournament has concluded and the unofficial standings have been posted to www.bowlkilleenforthood.org.
Phantom Warrior Lanes will host a scratch tournament on Nov. 16 at 1 p.m. with entries closing fifteen minutes prior. Entry forms are available in each center and online at bowlkilleenforthood.org. Entry forms will be available at the tournament site as well. The cost is $30 per person. Brackets and high pots will be offered.

The Greater Killeen-Fort Hood USBC Association hosted its eighth annual Youth Championship Tournament this past weekend at Killeen Bowlerama. The opening ceremony was conducted by Jacob Reed, who served as Master of Ceremonies.
The association’s Scratch Tournament was held Saturday at Hallmark Lanes and Josh Maxson captured first place in Division 1 with a score of 718. Jim Maxson finished second with a 685, just two pins ahead of William Palumbo with 683. Mark Morgan was fourth with 675.

Bowling is a great sport with a lot of history and amusing tales of the early years of the sport. There is a great book written by Howard Stallings entitled “The Big Book of Bowling” that has some of the stories and history behind the game. I’d like to comment on a few, with all credit going to Mr. Stallings.
