The 13th season of the Texas High School Bowling Club kicks off today with Ellison hosting Harker Heights at Hallmark Lanes while Shoemaker visits Killeen at Killeen Bowlerama.
The Harker Heights Superhero sports program is expanding to include a bowling league open to all intellectually disabled children between the ages of 5 and 21.
The 17th annual Southwest PBA Killeen Open has concluded and for the first time our local bowlers proved they were up to the challenge. Eric Odette, Sandi Charles, Josh Maxson and Karin Ciesiolka all made the cut of 24 in the semifinals. When the field was again cut to 16, only Odette and Charles made it, with Maxson just missing it and finishing 17th.
The 17th annual PBA Killeen Southwest Open saw the ‘A’ and ‘B’ squads in competition at Hallmark Lanes and it turned out to be a great day for many local bowlers.
Well, the championship tournaments for both the men and women have concluded in Reno, Nev., and there is finally some good news on the women’s side.
Iwas hoping that I would have some good news from Reno, but looking at the leaderboards for both the men and women, the only local bowler making the top 150 is Karin Ciesiolka, who is currently in 98th place in the Diamond Division singles event with a score of 695.
Hallmark Lanes hosted the second PBA qualifier this past weekend and earning an entry into the Southwest Region Killeen Open in August was Josh Maxson, who averaged 224 for the four games. Maxson put together games of 226-245-194-233 for an 898 series and was never even challenged.
We are down to about 90 days and the Professional Bowlers of the Southwest Region will be at Hallmark Lanes for the 17th Annual Killeen Open.
The Greater Killeen-Fort Hood USBC Association has some excellent bowlers posting great scores throughout the many leagues and tournaments. We can also be very proud of our youth bowlers, who continue to excel week after week. Some of our best youth bowlers are Timothy Rackley, Adarius Stanford, Jason Bardales, Dustin Gatliff and Tyler Combs.

The Greater Killeen-Fort Hood USBC Association is gearing up for two major tournaments to be held during March and April.
Don’t forget the Harvest Bowl scheduled for Sept. 29 at Phantom Warrior Lanes. It’s a 3-6-9 alibi tournament open to all youth and adult bowlers.
Karin Ciesiolka accomplished something we all wish we could do, but few can. Bowling in the Top Gun Madness league at Hallmark Lanes, she put together games of 238-267-299 for an 804 series and the first recorded by a woman at Hallmark Lanes.
Can Walter Ray Williams Jr. win any more awards? The man has won 47 titles and over $4 million in career earnings since joining the Professional Bowlers Association in 1980.
Okay, here we go. The greatest bowlers in the world will be at Hallmark Lanes beginning Friday through Sunday for the Southwest Region PBA Killeen Chameleon Open.
The Southwest Region PBA Killeen Open is just around the corner and Hallmark Lanes is hosting the tournament Aug. 10 – 12.
