Norma and James (Jim) Butler celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary Dec. 18 at the Killeen Civic and Conference Center at a reception hosted by their children and grandchildren.
The couple was united in marriage on Dec. 18, 1965, while Jim was a student at the Missouri University School of Mines and Metallurgy in Rolla, Mo.
They moved to Des Moines, Iowa where their children Beth and James Taylor (J.T.) were born. They later moved around the U.S. to several large construction projects and finally settled in Killeen in 1976,
Mr. Butler went to work for the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers in 1978. He retired at Fort Hood after 27 years of service and started with the city of Killeen in 2001 retiring in 2011 as executive director of public works.
Mrs. Butler worked for Gibson’s Department Stores until they closed. She started with the Killeen Independent School District in 2000 and retired in 2013.
Both are enjoying retired life and their grandchildren, Amie, Shelby and Corbin; and their three great-grandchildren.
