What do you like about Harker Heights?

The opportunity and the welcoming community has definitely attracted me to live in a place where I can see myself thriving and growing. Harker Heights is the perfect place to network and be a part of a community that is invested in its people and supporting small businesses.

What do you dislike about Harker Heights?

As we continue to grow and expand, we must think about equity, diversity and inclusion in order to be proactive and not reactive. Strengthening community ties and bringing innovative programs to Harker Heights will definitely allow the city to capitalize on its strengths. There are so many cities that could learn from each other and I think having a voice on equity will only help move the community in the right direction.

What is your favorite restaurant in Harker Heights?

My favorite restaurant in Harker Heights is Taqueria on Knight’s Way. The service is always excellent and we always run into people we know in the community. It is a local favorite for their breakfast tacos, too!

Where is your favorite place to shop in Harker Heights?

My favorite place to shop is Ross in Harker Heights.

What do you think that Harker Heights is missing?

More ways to get the community involved, all community members, in order to focus on community engagement through programs that are relevant to all, especially teen programs year-round to support the schools.

If you could bring anything new to Harker Heights, what would it be?

Committees and community efforts to bring diversity and awareness to our city and model Harker Heights friendly to the world.

What community work do you do?

I worked in the local school district as a teacher, department leader, coordinator, and assistant principal. My passion has been finding ways to keep students connected to campus as research has proven it increases academic achievement. My passion is service.

Finding opportunities for others to give back and finding ways that I can be of service to my community to hopefully leave it better than I found it ... not just for me, but for my son, and all posterity.

I am currently working to create community programs and engagement activities that focus on providing our youth with life lessons and conversations to talk about what is happening and learn from.

What made you choose your current job field?

I started MK Results, LLC. and developed a solution to the problem to change the narrative.

Where do you see yourself in 10 years?

I pray that the world has grown to be more respectful towards each other, that people respect themselves and our plant, that people are accepting of others, and that all who desire opportunity, matched with hard work, will reach the success

In 10 years, I would love to see that there is not a need for anti-bias and diversity training but as our world continues to change, the needs of society shift and we must learn to have friendly conversations with others who do not look like us, who do not have the same life experience, etc. In 10 years, simply put, I see peace.
