Burnet vs. Lampasas Football-7

Lampasas' Daunte Cuffie (33) runs into the end zone for a touchdown against Burnet during the district opener Oct. 11 at Badger Stadium in Lampasas.

The Badgers senior running back crossed the goal line three times en route to a game-high 88 rushing yards last week, guiding Class 4A, Division I No. 8 Lampasas to a 56-0 victory on the road at Taylor.

The favor was returned in an equally dominant fashion as Cuffie received 416 of the 587 votes cast to capture a whopping 70.9 percent of the total vote and earn the title of KDHpressbox.com Player of the Week.

Cuffie scored in each of the first three quarters of the game, recording touchdown runs of 13, 3 and 11 yards in the shutout and improving the Badgers’ record to 7-1 overall and 3-0 in District 14-4A, Division I.

Copperas Cove senior running back Micah Cox finished second in the voting with 27.1 percent after helping keep the Bulldawgs’ playoff hopes alive with a two-touchdown showing in a 21-16 victory at Harker Heights. He ran for 205 rushing yards.
