Harker Heights' Malik Francis (33) is tackled by Waco’s Keith Guillory (2) in the red zone at Leo Buckley Stadium, Killeen, on Thursday, October 10, 2019.

After winning three consecutive games, Harker Heights looks to continue climbing up the District 12-6A standings tonight, but it will not be easy.

In order to keep their streak intact, the third-place Knights (3-4, 3-2) must end an even more impressive run, traveling to play Waco Midway, where the Panthers look to extend their series of 38 consecutive district victories.

Midway enters the contest with a 4-2 overall record, including an unblemished showing through the first four district games, placing the Panthers in a tie with Temple (5-1, 4-0) atop the district standings.

The Wildcats travel to Leo Buckley Stadium to face Ellison. The Eagles (2-5, 2-3) are coming off a pair of losses to Harker Heights and Shoemaker, dropping them behind the Grey Wolves (4-2, 3-1) and Knights into a fifth-place tie with Belton (2-5, 2-3).

With Copperas Cove (2-5, 1-4) on a bye, Shoemaker travels to Waco (0-6, 0-4) to round out the District 12-6A schedule.

Kickoff for all three games is 7:30 p.m.

Elsewhere, Class 4A, Division I No. 9 Lampasas (5-1, 1-0 District 14-4A) looks for its fourth consecutive win, against Liberty Hill (2-3, 0-1) at home at 7:30 p.m., while Salado (4-2, 1-1 District 8-4A, Division II) plays a road game at Lorena (4-3, 1-2) at 7:30 p.m.

Gatesville (0-7, 0-1 District 5-4A, Division I) aims to earn its first win of the season at home against China Spring at 7 p.m. The Cougars are 2-5, 0-1.

Florence is on a bye.

Ellison can gain ground on idle Copperas Cove in the District 12-6A standings by defending its home court against Temple.

The third-place Lady Eagles (9-3) enter tonight a game and a half behind the Lady Bulldawgs (11-2) with the programs still set to play each other one more time Oct. 29.

Temple (6-7) is in a must-win situation to keep its playoff hopes alive, trailing Ellison and Belton (9-3) for the fourth and final postseason seed with only three matches remaining.

Playing for pride, Harker Heights (3-9) travels to first-place Midway (11-1), while Killeen (1-11) hosts the Lady Tigers, and Shoemaker (5-6) travels to winless Waco (0-13).

Belton and Ellison can clinch playoff spots with a win tonight and a Shoemaker loss.

First serve is set for 5:30 p.m. for all four matches.

In other action, Gatesville travels to Waco La Vega for a 5:30 p.m. start, Florence hosts Austin Achieve at 5:30 p.m., and Lampasas plays Class 4A No. 8 Liberty Hill at home at 6 p.m.
