Ellison kicked off the second round of its District 12-6A schedule Tuesday, earning a straight-set victory at Killeen.
The Lady Eagles won 25-21, 25-12, 25-22.
With the win, Ellison improved to 6-3 in district, remaining in the top four of the nine-team standings.
The Lady Kangaroos fell to 1-8 with the loss.
Killeen will look to rebound Friday, when it hosts Shoemaker, while the Lady Eagles play Harker Heights at home.
The Lady Knights, who are 2-6 in district, were on a bye but beat visiting Waco University 25-15, 21-25, 26-24, 25-15 in a nondistrict match Tuesday.
COVE BEATS SHOEMAKER 3-1: At Killeen, the visiting Lady Bulldawgs bounced back from an opening-set loss to beat Shoemaker 25-27, 25-18, 26-24, 25-19 and remain third in the district standings.
The Lady Grey Wolves (4-5) are fifth — sitting two games behind Ellison for the district’s final playoff berth.
Copperas Cove (7-2) travels to Waco on Friday.
BELTON SWEEPS WACO: At Belton, Emily Holder did a little bit of everything, posting 11 assists, six aces, three kills and three digs in a 25-13, 25-15, 25-8 win against Waco.
Additionally, Abbey Karcher delivered a team-high eight kills, while teammate Elizabeth Smith had seven kills, and McKenzie Mansell added eight assists, six digs and a pair of aces.
Sitting second in the district standings, Belton (8-1) hosts Temple (3-6) on Friday.
The Temcats lost to first-place Waco Midway 25-14, 25-20, 25-17.
SALADO WINS AT EASTSIDE MEMORIAL: At Austin, the Lady Eagles earned a District 27-4A victory on the road, defeating the Lady Panthers 25-6, 25-9, 25-14.
Liz Ford recorded a team-high six kills in the win, while teammates Landry Rogers and Maddy Wade finished with four aces and two blocks, respectively.
The Lady Eagles return to action Friday, when they host No. 13 Liberty Hill.
