NO. 8 FLORENCE 24, HAMILTON 0, 5 INN.: At Hamilton, Emily Gray threw a perfect game by striking out every batter, and Mackenzie Futrell had 10 RBIs to lead the Lady Buffaloes to a lopsided win to open the season.
“It was surprising,” head coach Brett Gola said of the eye-popping stat lines, “but a good surprise.”
Futrell was 4 for 4 on the night with two doubles, a triple and a home run, missing her chance for the cycle when her final hit went for a double.
