The Jarrell girls track team edged Salado 183-182 on Thursday to win Holland's Roasa Relays.

Led by long-distance wiz Jaci McGregor, Salado swept the top two spots in the 1,600- and 3,200-meter runs. Anna Lesley placed second in both races.

The Lady Eagles also finished 1-2 in the 400 with Taylor Rich and Samantha Vargas.

Reginia Deen won the 100, and Holly Wright won the 100 hurdles.

Salado also won a pair of relays. Angie Sanders, Mia Patton, Deen and Kaia Philen raced to a win in the 400 relay. Vargas, Deen, Fossum and Rich captured the 1,600 relay.

In the field events, Landry Rogers won the discus, and Presley Maddux won the pole vault.

In the boys meet, Florence's Kelby Vaughan scored almost half of the Buffaloes' 80 points. Vaughan won three events for fifth-place Florence: the 100, long jump and triple jump. He missed a fourth win when he lost the 200 by three-hundredths of a second to Jarrell's James Wright.

Salado finished third, excelling in the distance events. Logan Rickey won the 800 for the Eagles and led a 1-2 finish with Hunter Haas in the 1,600. Haas won the 3,200 over Florence's Hugo Martinez.

Six schools were represented at the meet.
