The Killeen Kangaroos are set to take on the Harker Heights Knights on Friday night at Leo Buckley Stadium with a 7:30 p.m. kickoff.
The game is an early season KISD rivalry that will likely be a hard-fought battle between the two teams.
“It’s an in-town rivalry game so it doesn’t matter what the records are,” Killeen coach Neil Searcy said. “All that kind of stuff goes out the window whenever Killeen schools get together and play one another so it’s gonna be a hard fought game,” Searcy said. “The kids know one another, there’s bragging rights involved. You know, these kids, they’re all friends; they all hang out together, but on that night we gotta get out on the field and go against each other.”
Defensive back and offensive weapon for the Roos, Jayden Hill, talked about getting ready for the game Friday.
“I think this big win is going to carry over and we’re going to get us another dub,” Hill said. “We gotta be humble right now, though, go back to practice, go to film tomorrow, ice up and do all I gotta do to come back ready.”
The Roos are coming off a big, hard-fought 37-34 win over the Copperas Cove Bulldawgs on Friday at Buckley Stadium while the Knights are coming off a close loss to Belton, 21-14 in Belton.
The Knights are currently 0-4, 0-2 in district play and the Roos are 1-3, 1-1 in district play.
