Hannah Reavis, Grace Graham, Madison Spradlin and Sam Vargas each scored as Salado edged Tyler Chapel Hill 4-3 on penalties Saturday to finish third in the Midlothian Heritage Frostbite Tournament.

Avery Wright recorded the shutout for the Lady Eagles as the teams played to a scoreless draw in regulation.

It was the second straight scoreless draw for Salado, which faced Athens on Friday. Wright also earned the clean sheet in that match.

“Our team did a great job working together and creating opportunities but we struggled getting the ball in the goal,” Graham said.

On Thursday, the Lady Eagles split matches against a pair of former state champ programs.

Reavis. Spradlin, Vargas and Holly Wright scored as Salado opened the tourney with a 4-0 win over 2016 and '15 champ Kennedale.

Mackenzie Miller, Spradlin and Wright recorded the assists. Allison Carnahan and the Lady Eagles defense didn’t let Kennedale get close to the goal, helping the team keep possession the entire game.

“We finished our shots very well and kept them from shooting the entire game,” said Vargas, who helped both the offense and defense keep the ball under control.

Wright recorded the shut out.

In their second game Thursday, the Lady Eagles lost 4-0 to 2018 state champ Heritage.
