I Love Sushi opened in Killeen to offer traditional Japanese cuisine. Phillip Snowda is the head chef of the restaurant, located in the Solomon Palace plaza, 1103 W. Veterans Memorial Blvd., Suite 101.

Snowda was born in Osaka, Japan, and grew up in Tokyo, but he has been in the United States for 30 years.

He has been head chef at two different restaurants in Chicago and California.

About a month ago, he started the restaurant in Killeen because his daughter works at Carl R. Darnall Army Medical Center.

Snowda has also appeared on TV as a contestant of Food Network’s “Iron Chef America.” Although he did not win the competition, Snowda was able to work with chefs like Paula Deen and John Besh.

Between Japan and the United States, Snowda has 40 years experience as a chef.

When patrons walk into I Love Sushi, they will be greeted by a bright dining room and ambient music playing through the speakers. They can also expect traditional Japanese ramen soup and sushi made with fresh fish that is prepared daily.

I Love Sushi is open Monday through Saturday from 11 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. and 4:30 to 9 p.m.
