If you’re headed somewhere for the Super Bowl, you’ll want to think about gassing up before you leave the Killeen area, as the average price of a gallon is nearly 13 cents less than the statewide average, according to Gasbuddy.com.
Those in search of the cheapest gas in Killeen might want to head to the Wal-Mart Neighborhood Market at 3801 E. Stan Schlueter Loop. On Saturday afternoon, a gallon of gas cost $1.89. Stripes at 2200 E. Stan Schlueter Loop, the Cefco at 4803 E. Stan Schlueter Loop, the Wal-Mart at 3804 W. Stan Schlueter Loop and the Wal-Mart at 2900 Clear Creek Road had gas at $1.94 a gallon.
In Copperas Cove, the H-E-B at 2990 E. Business U.S. Highway 190 had the cheapest gas at $1.92 a gallon.
The 7-Eleven at 2124 E. Business U.S. Highway 190 had it for a cent more at $1.94. The Corner Store at 1102 S. Farm-to-Market 116, the 7-Eleven at 501 N. First St. and the Alon next door at 502 N. First St. were selling gas for $1.95 a gallon, according to Gasbuddy.com.
As usual, Harker Heights was home to the cheapest gas. Sam’s Club at 600 W. Central Texas Expressway had gas for $1.88 a gallon, while H-E-B at 601 Indian Trail had it for $1.89.
If you’re headed to the big game in Houston on Sunday, expect to pay a little bit more for gas. The Casey’s at 1029 Sam Houston Blvd., and the Murphy USA at 1431 Sam Houston Blvd., were selling gas for $1.99 a gallon. Gas was about $2.10 a gallon in Bryan and about $2.05 a gallon in Navasota.
At this time last year, the statewide average price for a gallon of gas was $1.58, compared to $2.07 this year.
