The average price of a gallon of regular unleaded gas in the Killeen-Temple-Fort Hood area was $2.99 on Saturday, which is 3 cents higher than last week’s average and $1.18 more than it was this time last year, according to AAA.

Local prices

In Killeen on Saturday, users reported the cheapest gas selling for $2.84 per gallon at several locations, including 2511 Trimmier Road.

Sam’s Club at 600 W. Central Texas Expressway was selling the cheapest gas in Harker Heights on Saturday at $2.81 per gallon, according to users.

In Copperas Cove, the cheapest gas was reported as selling for $2.86 per gallon at multiple locations, including Murphy USA, 2712 E. Business Highway 190, users reported.

The lowest-priced gasoline was last reported as selling for $2.84 per gallon at AAFES on Fort Hood, including 48830 Clear Creek Road, according to

State, national prices

The statewide average for a gallon of gasoline is $3.05, which is an increase of 2 cents from last week and $1.22 higher than a year ago, according to AAA.

The national gas price average is $3.40 per gallon, which is 2 cents higher than last week, according to the AAA website. It is $1.26 higher than a year ago.
