Representatives of small businesses around Killeen were at the Walmart on Stan Schlueter Loop in Killeen on Saturday as part of the store’s kickoff party for its online grocery pick up system.

Wendy Jones, the assistant manager of the store, talked about the system Walmart will be implementing.

“Today, what we’re doing is a launch party because on Oct. 15 we’ll be starting our OGP, what we call OGP and that’s our online grocery pick up,” Jones said. “What that is, is that you can go online, download our app, go online and order your groceries then let us know when you want to pick it up and we get them ready and we bring them to your car.”

Jones also talked about why the store decided to invite small businesses to the event today.

“This is a community thing; these are things that are going to help the community,” Jones said. “We decided that we’ll bring in some ‘mom and pops’ and let the community exactly what there is that’s out there,” Jones said.

Ella Robinson, the owner of Doterra, creates products like essential oils, vitamins and deodorant from natural ingredients.

She talked about her thoughts on Walmart allowing small businesses to advertise at their store.

“I think it’s great that they allow us small business owners to come here and advertise ourselves,” Robinson said.
