A tale of love, money and secrets, “Love $uspended” takes center stage at the Killeen Arts and Activity Center, 801 N. Fourth St., Saturday at 7:30 p.m.
San Antonio playwright Bobby McMorris returns to Killeen with his contemporary urban drama filled with moral values, faith and humor. The family-friendly story focuses on an engaged couple’s money troubles and banking on financial infidelity to relieve their debt.
“A good take away from Love $uspended is before entering into a relationship, clean up the financial closet so love won’t get suspended,” McMorris said.
A writer and producer of 13 stage plays, McMorris has performed in Killeen since 2004 with his productions, including “God Can Change You” and “A Perfect Sized Lie” and “In-God-We-Tru$t.”
In “Love $uspended,” all cast members are from San Antonio, but McMorris is looking forward to working with actors in the Killeen area for upcoming projects.
McMorris sees his mission as a playwright is to invoke change and prevent disaster.
“I believe everyone has a story to tell and theater is an excellent outlet to share our experiences whether personally or vicariously,” he said. “Urban plays are a reflection of our culture.”
