Chaparral light

The light at the Chaparral intersection is scheduled to start working this week.

UPDATE: The Texas Department of Transportation has delayed the traffic light operation at the intersection of State Highway 195 and Chaparral Road until Thursday, Sept. 19, according to the Killeen Police Department.


A new traffic signal in south Killeen is scheduled to start flashing today.

The new signal at the intersection of State Highway 195 and Chaparral Road will be placed in flash mode today and go into full operation on Thursday, according to a news release from the Texas Department of Transportation.

The construction began on June 27.

“The new signal will increase safety by creating greater control and efficiency of turning and through traffic movements at the intersection,” according to the release.

Austin Traffic Signal Construction Company is in charge of the construction and the cost is around $288,000.
