A Temple man, arrested for possession of marijuana earlier this year, allegedly threatened an officer’s family, leading to his indictment for a felony charge.
David Scott Turner, 44, was arrested by Temple police on Jan. 25 after marijuana was found in his vehicle during a traffic stop, according to an arrest affidavit.
“At the time of his arrest, Turner’s dog was taken by animal control,” an affidavit filed by Sgt. Tom Menix of the Temple Police Department said. “As the dog was being secured, Turner became irate and became verbally abusive with Officer Jacob Cehand, who was transporting Turner to the Bell County Jail.”
At the jail, Turner “began making threats toward Officer Cehand while in holding, stating he would eventually get out, that he would find Officer Cehand’s family and drag (his) kids through the streets like his dog was dragged from his car,” the affidavit said.
During a medical screen with a nurse, the affidavit said, Turner was asked “if he had any thoughts about harming himself or others when he gestured towards Officer Cehand and said ‘just him.’
Turner was indicted May 17 for a charge of obstruction or retaliation, a third-degree felony charge. He also faces a Class B misdemeanor charge of marijuana possession under two ounces.
He was freed from the county jail on Jan. 28 after he posted a $50,000 bond.
An arraignment hearing for Turner’s retaliation charge is scheduled on June 8 in the 27 District Court before Judge John Gauntt. A pretrial hearing is scheduled for July 20, court records show.

What right is that, you're wondering.

The Fifth Amendment Right to simply "remain silent" and NOT incriminate yourself.
