SALADO — Firefighters are battling a 10-acre fire in Salado on Friday afternoon.
The blaze, called the Mill Creek fire, was located off Royal Ridge Drive and was 0% contained of Friday afternoon, the Texas A&M Forest Service said.

The blaze, called the Mill Creek fire, was located off Royal Ridge Drive and was 0% contained of Friday afternoon, the Texas A&M Forest Service said.
About 15 homes in the area are threatened by the wildfire but no evacuations are needed, the village of Salado said.
“Water is being dropped from the air on the fire burning in the area of Highland and Chisholm Trail,” the village of Salado said in a Facebook post. “Firefighters will be on the scene for several more hours.”
No injuries were reported.
“People should continue to avoid the area of Chisholm Trail and Highland Drive for the next couple of hours,” the village said. “Highland Drive remains closed at Kevlin Trail.”
The Bell County Strike Team, comprised of several local fire departments, has joined the wildfire fighting effort.
If residents need shelter during the fire, the village said they can go to the Salado Civic Center at 601 N Main St.
