A bicycle collided with a pickup truck Tuesday on East Veterans Memorial Boulevard in Killeen, killing the cyclist.

According to a Killeen Police Department news release, 79-year-old Ronald Boyce died just before 5 p.m. following the accident. About 2 p.m., a bicycle and a gray 2015 Dodge Ram pickup truck collided in the 2400 block of East Veterans Memorial Boulevard.

Boyce was transported by ambulance to Fort Hood’s Carl R. Darnall Army Medical Center and later taken by air to Baylor Scott & White Hospital in Temple.

An investigation by the KPD Traffic Unit determined that Boyce left the Centroplex Recycling Center and began riding his bike diagonally northwest across Veterans Memorial Boulevard and into the path of the truck, which was traveling westbound in the outside lane of traffic.

The driver of the truck was not injured, and no charges have been filed in connection with the incident.
